On Sunday, June 12th, at 1411 hours, Huntingtown, and surrounding companies were dispatched to Route 4 in the area of Chaneyville Road for the Commercial Building Fire. Engine 61 (Lt. Wallace), Engine 62 (Lanier), Squad 6 (P.Robison), Tanker 6 (Speelman), Car 6 (Montgomery Sr.) and Chief 6A responded on the incident with 22 personnel. Engine Company 5, and Chief 5A arrived to find a three story commercial occupancy, with fire showing from all three floors, and immediately requested a second alarm. Engine 61 arrived and advanced a 250' 2" attack line to Division 2, and was quickly repositioned to Division 1 to assist Engine Company 5. Squad 6 assisted with searches and ventilation. Tanker 6 arrived and began assisting with Water Supply Operations. An evacuation was announced due to pending structure collapse. During extinguishment, a firefighter was reported missing, and a MAYDAY was announced on the fire ground, which was quickly cancelled upon members locating the uninjured firefighter. Two members from HVFD were transported to CMH with non-life threatening injuries, and have since returned home in good health.
