Saturday August 11, 2012 at 1819 hours, as violent storms were pounding Huntingtown, units from the Huntingtown VFD, North Beach Boat 1, Prince Frederick VRS Boat 4 & Benedict Boat 83 were alerted for the sailboat in distress off of the beach of 2300 Carpenter Beach Road. Chief 6A (Montgomery), Safety 6 (McKenny), Engine 62 (Robison) & Ambulance 69 (Stewart, L) arrived on location at the beach and found a 50' sailboat several hundreds yards off shore in severe distress. A total of 6 occupants were on-board when the boat became in distress due to 5' waves taking over the boat. 2 of the occupants jumped off the boat and swam to shore. North Beach VFD Boat 1 arrived on location and assisted the sailboat and 4 other passengers to safety. Units from the Huntingtown VFD remained on location until 1955 hours.
